In honor of the 75th anniversary of Thornton Wilder’s masterpiece Our Town, the creative minds at imaginary beasts turn to a celebration of the author.  Using our own heady and offbeat style of theatre we are exploring Wilder's less known early works:  inventive playlets showcasing his burgeoning interest in experimenting with form.

“The life of man awaits you, the light laughter and the misery in the same day, in the selfsame hour the trivial and the divine. You are to give it voice.”  Nascuntur Poetæ...

Poets and peasants, a mermaid and Mozart flicker into vivid and fleeting life as worlds of wonder and mystery unfold in a dreamer’s twilight.

Come experience the young Thornton Wilder at play as imaginary beasts takes a rare look into the early works of one of this country’s most beloved authors.

The small (but mighty in effort) IMAGINARY BEASTS theater company fuses puppet arts to human movement, gestural language to text, and story to myth for a feast of images, sounds, music and laughter. If you’ve attended any of their entertaining WINTER PANTOs, you know their wildly creative approach to theater making. Now they’ve turned their imaginative spirit toward Thornton Wilder.
